STOP THE BILLBOARD

CALL TO ARMS!

As expected Melbourne Advertising Company Total Outdoor Media Pty. Ltd. has opted to challenge a Mildura Rural City Council decision through the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT).

This case has been scheduled to be heard in Melbourne on 31 October 2018.

If successful, they could be permitted to construct a 12.66 metre wide and six metre high major promotion sign on the corner of Karadoc Avenue and Fifteenth Street in Irymple. This is despite more than 250 objections lodged against the proposal earlier this year.

We are calling on objectors and other concerned citizens to complete a Statement of Grounds to express their reason for opposing this application. To be considered by VCAT it must be received before July 19, and must be sent to the 3 parties involved.

You can download the statement of grounds document here:

and James Goldsworthy Consultants (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.), acting for Total Outdoor Media.

Statement of Grounds forms are available from the VCAT website or at the links above with VCAT file details pre-filled, or by calling in to Irymple Foot Clinic (2094 Fifteenth St, Irymple) in person. There is no charge to lodge a statement of grounds. You can opt to speak at the meeting by paying a small fee to VCAT or if you wish to have Andrew or Tracey speak on your behalf please let us know your reasons for objection and give us your written permission.

It may help if all persons submitting a statement of grounds to ask for the venue to be changed to Mildura. This would afford more people the chance to present their case orally or attend this open session. If enough objections are received (especially those who wish to speak), VCAT may opt to host the hearing in Mildura on October 31.

Step 1: Download Statement of Grounds and fill out with your details and objections

Step 2: If you wish to speak at the meeting pay your fee (either $20.20 or $10.10 depending on if you have a pension card or not). You don’t have to speak if you don’t want to, just write your objections on the form and submit to have them considered. If you want Andrew or Tracey to speak on your behalf you need to give written permission.

Step 3: Forward completed form before the 19th July to :

VCAT (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.),

Council (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) and

James Goldsworthy Consultants (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.)

Step 4: Wait to see if VCAT give us the change of venue to Mildura. If not you can choose to have Andrew or Tracey speak on your behalf as they will be at the meeting even if it is in Melbourne.
